In 2011 the Center for MicroBioRobotics organized four International Workshops addressing research topics that represent scientific pillars of great potential and strategic impact internally to CMBR.
The first Workshop was held in Pontedera and was focused on "Medical micro-robots: potential, challenges, strategies and dreams". The event involved some of the major players in the micro-robotic field with the aim to present and to discuss the perspective, and scientific technological challenges of medical microrobotics.
The second Workshop addressed "Smart Solutions From The Plant Kingdom: beyond the animal models" and was devoted to discuss with several experts the importance to study plants and to take inspiration from them for creating innovation in different fields. This Workshop was held at the Accademia dei Georgofili in Florence.
The last two Workshops were organized in Tallinn (Estonia) in occasion of the 15th International Conference on Advanced Robotics – ICAR 2011 and were dedicated to "Soft Robotics" and to "Urban Service Robotics: Challenges and Opportunities", respectively.
